Build a plane in a week? Oshkosh organizers say no problem
At this summer's EAA AirVenture Oshkosh show, attendees will have the chance to participate in an effort to build an entire airplane in just seven days.
It may take about six weeks to make a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, but organizers at the world-famous Oshkosh air show think building a plane in a week should be no problem.
At the weeklong EAA AirVenture Oshkosh show this summer, attendees will be encouraged to help build a Zenith CH 750 kit plane. The goal of the "One Week Wonder" initiative is to go from scratch to taxi test of the CH 750 entirely during the show, which runs from July 28 through August 3, and is put on by the Oshkosh, Wis.-based EAA.

"The One Week Wonder project will...allow EAA to showcase how a person can build their own airplane, the technical achievements along the way, and EAA support programs for aircraft builders," the EAA wrote in a post. "AirVenture attendees will be able to add their own "hands-on" moment in the construction project and sign the logbook as one of the builders."
The Oshkosh show is an annual destination for thousands of aviation enthusiasts interested in seeing both the latest innovations in experimental aircraft and hundreds of historical airplanes. The show is punctuated by daily air shows and extravagant demonstrations of everything from formation flying to flying cars to jetpacks.
Why Google dumped Motorola: Unit's Q4 loss widens to $384M
Motorola, which will eventually be heading to Lenovo, saw its revenue decline as it continued to drag down Google's balance sheet.
If there's any question about why Google sold Motorola Mobility, just look at its fourth-quarter results.
Motorola's results again weighed on Google's profitability, with the unit's operating loss actually widening to $384 million from $152 million a year ago.
Revenue, meanwhile, fell nearly 18 percent from a year ago to $1.24 billion, or 7 percent of Google's total revenue for the period.
Google said Wednesday that it had agreed tosell Motorola to Lenovo for nearly $3 billion. The deal not only gets Google back to its neutral position among handset vendors, but it also clears out what has been a consistent drag on its financial books.

When Lenovo entered the global PC market by acquiring IBM's PC business it instantly became a major player with PCs, building on the business-centric ThinkPad with the consumer-facing IdeaPad. Now, the company intends to do the same thing with smartphones.
Google unexpectedly announced on Wednesday that it's selling Motorola Mobility to Chinese PC giant Lenovo for $2.91 billion. While it appears to be a fire sale, with Lenovo paying less than a quarter of what Google paid for the handset vendor just a couple of years ago, Lenovo's CEO Yuanqing Yang has high hopes for the smartphone business.
Zuckerberg makes $3B in one day as Facebook stock surges
Not a bad day at the office for Mark Zuckerberg. He just made $3 billion.
With Facebook's stock rising 16 percent to an all-time high over $61 on Thursday, the social networking company's founder and CEO's wealth also shot up -- by more than $3 billion to $29.7 billion, according to Wealth-X.
That's up from a net worth of $20 billion that he hit at Facebook's IPO in May 2012. And his net worth has nearly tripled since those dark days of Facebook's post-IPO depression last year, when Zuckerberg was down to his last $10 billion.
Sure there are plenty of people who are richer than Zuckerberg, including the Google guys who are both worth more than $30 billion. And Bill Gates and Larry Ellison are still the overlords of tech wealth, with $75 billion and $42 billion respectively, according to Bloomberg's Billionaires Index.
But Zuckerberg may be the richest 29-year-old American ever—even adjusted for inflation.

WHICH IS BETTER? .... Blackberry Z10 or Apple iPhone 5
There was a time when Blackberry (formerly RIM) all but had the smartphone market
to themselves, but in the last few years they’ve been having a hard
time. Apple burst on to the scene, closely followed by Android and then
Windows Phone, all of them bringing fresh ideas and a desire for
dominance which quickly ate into Blackberry’s market share and left them
by the wayside.
Blackberry hasn’t given up though and
the Blackberry Z10 is testament to that. It’s almost certainly their
best phone yet, running a brand new operating system (Blackberry 10) and
setting its sights on both business
and leisure users. It’s undoubtedly a good handset, but we’re pitting
it against the iPhone 5 – the most popular smartphone on the planet, so
it’s going to take a lot for Blackberry to take the win. Have they done
enough not just to become relevant again but to topple a giant?
